The Community Helpers Program is a peer support program focused on youth mental health promotion and suicide prevention. The goal is to improve the mental health and well-being of Alberta&rsquo;s youth and young adults. Every community has people who others go to for help. By providing training and ongoing support, the program helps youth and young adults, ages 12 - 30, and the adults who support them, to learn the skills and get the tools to help others in their communities. Outcomes of the program include:

<li>improved mental health and well-being among youth and young adults</li>
<li>increased access to professional help for those at risk of suicide</li>
<li>increased community capacity to offer evidence-informed programs that reduce the risk of suicide</li>
<li>increased help-seeking among youth and young adults</li>
<li>reduced stigma connected to getting help</li>
</ul>
