Provides services to individuals and families involved in adoptions granted in the province of Alberta, as well as services to individuals who were formerly in the care of Children and Family Services.
Service provides:
- services for adoptions granted in the province of Alberta
Includes:
- reunion services for adult adoptees (descendants) and birth family members who have registered for voluntary contact (provides facilitation and support throughout the reunification process)
- access to foster care records
- facilitates exchange of non-identifying information between adoptive parents and birth families
- arrange the sharing of hereditary disease and genetic health information
- provides assistance to adopted persons seeking Registered Status under the Indian Act or Citizenship with Metis Nation of Alberta
- offers information about adult adoption
- release of identifying adoption documents to adult adoptees, birth parents, and siblings from the sealed court records unless a Disclosure Veto prohibits the registry from releasing the individual's identifying information
Also provides information from child intervention records to individuals who were formerly in Children and Family Services' care.
