All information provided to the InformAlberta website (the ‘Site’) is designed for the purposes of accessing information about community, health, social, mental health, and government services and the organizations which operate them in the Province of Alberta. This information and/or any other viewed from its hyperlinks, should not be used to replace the advice of a professional or relied upon for diagnosis and/or treatment.

The content of the InformAlberta website is maintained on a regular basis by the InformAlberta Partners (the ‘Partners’). Each Partner follows the processes for updating information as set out in the Updating Policy.

• A hyperlink from InformAlberta to another website should not be construed to mean that the Partners are associated with or are legally authorized to use any trademark, trade name, logo or copyrighted symbol that may be reflected in the hyperlink or the description of the hyperlink on these websites. The mention of another party or its product or services on the Site should not be construed as an endorsement of that party or its product or service.

(g) Confidentiality Warning

• Users should be warned that the Internet is not a secure medium for acquiring or sending information. Privacy cannot be ensured. Internet e-mail is vulnerable to interception and forging. The Partners will not be responsible for any damages suffered by the user or any third party that may suffer as a result of the transmission of confidential information made to the Partners through the Internet, or that the user expressly or implicitly authorizes the Partners to make, or for any errors or any changes made to any transmitted information.

(h) Computer Viruses

• While the Partners make every effort to ensure that all information provided in the Site does not contain computer viruses, users should take reasonable and appropriate precautions to scan for computer viruses and ensure that they have complete and current backups where appropriate on their systems. Users should pay specific attention to newer viruses that have been written to automatically execute when an infected word processing document is loaded into certain word processing programs.

(i) Choice of Law

• The laws of the Province of Alberta and the laws of Canada applicable therein shall govern as to the interpretations, validity, and effect of this agreement notwithstanding any conflict of laws provisions or domicile, residence or physical location of the user. The user hereby consents and submits to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Province of Alberta in any action or proceeding, instituted under or related to this agreement.

j) Submissions

• All information submitted to the Partners via the Site shall be deemed and remain the property of the Partners and shall be free to use, for any purpose, idea, concept, know-how or other techniques contained in information provided to the Partners. The Partners shall not be subject to any obligations of confidentiality regarding any such information submitted to it unless specifically agreed to by the Partners or required by law.

k) FOIPP

• The material in the Site is intended only for the purpose of accessing general information about services and organizations and related information through hyperlinks. Its contents are protected by privilege, and all rights to privilege are expressly claimed and not waived. Further information which is confidential or personal will be subject to the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIPP) Act and other relevant legislation.

l) 211 Human Services Indexing System (211HSIS) copyright information

• The structure of the service and organization index and definitions of terms contained with the Site were originally obtained from the 211 Human Services Indexing System (211HSIS). No part of this listing of human services terms and definitions may be reproduced, stored in a retrieval system, or transmitted in any form or by any means, electrical, mechanical, photocopying, recording or otherwise without the prior written permission of the Information and Referral Federation of Los Angeles County, doing business as 211 LA County and the InformAlberta Partners.
