Doctor to send a physician transfer summary to one of the program's physiatrists. The client will be assessed to determine their fitness for this program or another program.
The Tertiary Neuro Rehabilitation (TNR) Program is a time-limited, intensive, inpatient rehabilitation service for patients with an acquired brain injury, stroke, spinal cord injury or other general neurological illness or injury. This service is available for patients at least 16 years of age, living in Southern Alberta (Red Deer and South). Patients must have Alberta Health Care actively in place or in progress. See additional eligibility section for inclusion criteria.
The Tertiary Neuro Rehabilitation interdisciplinary team works collaboratively with patients and their families to support the rehabilitation journey by:
- providing education to patients and families or other close supports
- teaching patients how to manage and/or direct their care
- facilitating functional recovery and enabling independence with mobility, activities of daily living, communication and/or community integration
- counselling patients and families through their injury/illness adjustment
- assisting patients and families plan for discharge and transition into the community

Additionally, Physiatrists provide consultation for adult patients at all Calgary area hospitals (e.g. Foothills Medical Centre, Rockyview General Hospital, Peter Lougheed Centre, and South Health Campus).
