MAAST provides assessment and stabilization for children admitted to the Stollery Children's Hospital with underlying acute mental health and/or addiction concerns that do not require immediate psychiatric care.
The team includes Mental Health Therapists from a variety of professional backgrounds. The goal of MAAST is to better understand the individual's current mental health needs and provide a full assessment of their mental health and any substance use concerns. The team offers short - term support to help stabilize individuals and families, which may include safety planning, education, brief interventions, and connecting them to other supports and services.
