The neurogenetics clinic provides genetic assessment, screening, diagnosis, counselling and treatment to Albertans across their lifespan who are either at risk to develop or affected with a neurogenetic condition.
The consultation service begins with an assessment of a patient's personal and family history for features of a suspected condition.
Genetic counselling is provided to patients to explore applicable inheritance patterns and the benefits, risks, and limitations of genetic testing (if indicated) for both the patient and any at risk relatives.
Neurogenetic referrals that do not meet Inclusion criteria:
- Family history of a neurogenetic condition with no confirmed genetic testing or supportive pathology of an affected individual (with few exceptions – please contact our clinic with questions)

In-patient consultation services are provided at all tertiary hospitals in Calgary. Please call the Alberta Children’s Hospital Switchboard and ask to speak to the Medical Geneticist on-call.
