Provides a secure and anonymous 24/7 service where an infant or baby can be safely surrendered when a parent is unwilling or unable to keep or care for their child.
Service offers:
- parents can surrender an infant without having to interact with anyone
- the parent’s privacy is protected, provided the infant shows no signs of abuse or neglect
- life saving alternative ensures that infants will have the opportunity to grow up in a safe and supportive environment, when a parent feels unsafe and makes the difficult decision that they cannot keep their baby
Includes:
- heated cradle space
- a bassinet and blanket for the baby's comfort
- a monitor pointed towards the bassinet only to view the baby and ensure their safety
- an envelope of information for the parent inside the cradle, which the parent can take away with them
Access is in a private alcove on the exterior of the building to the left of the main entrance. There is no external video surveillance of the Hope's Cradle area.
