Provides companionship, support, respite, and resource sharing to clients and their caregivers.
Service provides:
- companionship - connects a trained volunteer with adults to ease social isolation, improve quality of life, and support greater independence through activities and hobbies, either in the home or in the community with the goal of living life to its fullest in the presence of an illness; some examples include reading, baking, and writing memoirs
- respite - opportunity for personal time and space for caregivers as supporting a loved one as they near death can be difficult emotionally, physically, and socially
- community connections - resource information, as requested, to improve community connections for both clients and caregivers
Volunteers do not provide personal care such as medication management, bathing, dressing, or home cleaning.
