In-person and virtual Allied Health support in the management of Parkinson’s Disease (PD) and Multiple Sclerosis (MS). This includes assessment, reassessment, education, treatment in-person one-on-one, and in-person and virtual PD / MS specific groups.
In-persons service include:
- assessment / ressessment. The majority of clients are first seen by a physiotherapists and then referred as needed to the other services
- education provided as applicable, and referral to Parkinson Association of Alberta or MS Canada if wished
- following assessment - options of treatment discussed may include: home based, one on one with therapy assistant or applicable allied health therapist, in-person group and / or Zoom based groups (voice, hands, cardio, boxing, exercise, etc.)
- yearly reassessment for those actively being seen
For those that cannot come in-person (primarly physical therapy and speech language pathologists):
- client is often referred by their local allied health provider
- depending on service they wish to access they will be asked to see their local AHS or private therapist for assessment
- discussion will occur with local therapist and client will be assigned to appropriate Zoom groups
- reassessment to be done yearly by their local therapist if actively involved in program
