Day Hospital provides treatment and acute care stabilization for acutely ill patients who require psychiatric treatment, but do not require overnight care in a medical hospital setting.
The Day Hospital at AHE is short-term, goal-oriented stabilization for patient experiencing acute mental health/psychiatric symptoms. The length of stay at Day Hospital varies, up to a three-week admission. The Day Hospital is designed to facilitate the development of coping skills and enhance individual capacity to manage current and future mental health / psychiatric difficulties. Other services include rTMS and linkages to concurrent services and other resources across the Edmonton Zone. Patients will work with an interdisciplinary team – including a psychiatrist – while attending structured psychoeducational group programs.
