Provides a single point of contact for families of missing and murdered Indigenous persons for culturally safe assistance in finding information, navigating systems, and accessing counselling and other supports (including court support).
Service provides:
- a single point of contact for families of missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls
- culturally safe assistance to families in finding information and navigating systems
- referrals to access counselling and other supports, including court support
Includes:
- information about the justice system and legal processes, including system navigation
- updates on criminal investigations, court proceedings, and fatality inquiries involving their loved ones
- connections to counselling, spiritual supports, and Elders
- information about a loved one who is missing and murdered in another jurisdiction, through Family Information Liaison Units in other provinces and territories
- use of an outreach model to reduce barriers to service
The type of information that can be shared is subject to privacy regulations and legislation.
