Family to Family Connections helps connect families to other families who have personal experience with a child who has a similar health condition or disability.
Family Peer Mentor Volunteers are trained to provide:
- one to one peer support to families experiencing a new diagnosis, an upcoming procedure
- other events related to a child's health concern or disability
The Family Peer Mentors are:
- parents who are available to listen
- share their experiences
- direct people to information and resources that have been helpful to them
- trained and are vetted through AHS Volunteer Resources, Alberta Children's Hospital
The Family Peer Mentors do not give medical advice. Connections are monitored by the F2FC Coordinator who is available to address any questions and provide ongoing support.
