Offers training and support for parents and guardians who have children / youth with high needs and behaviours.
Service provides:
- training and support for parents and guardians who have children / youth with high needs and behaviours
- a specialized, part-time, out-of-home living arrangement for youth while their guardians receive support and training
Program elements for guardians include:
- an assigned family worker
- weekly training and support group
- collaborative work with the child / youth’s team
- family mediation
- family therapeutic supports
- regular meetings with a family worker with transfer skills into the family home
Program elements for children and youth include:
- an assigned key worker
- 3 nights per week at a staffed home (Kinnect House) or connected therapeutic host home
- individual weekly therapeutic support
- emotional regulation and behaviour skill development
- behaviour interventions in collaboration with a team of clinicians and staff
- regular outings and events to reinforce skills in the community
