When you come to Addiction Services:
Treatment begins with you and a counselor working together to identify problem areas and strengths. Support provided includes assessment, treatment, and referral for additional services if necessary. The information you provide will help you and the counsellor select the best support for you.Counsellors refer to and work alongside other community agencies and services, including:
Prevention:The focus of our prevention services is to raise awareness and understanding of alcohol, tobacco, other drugs and gambling related issues. We provide prevention services for individuals, groups, schools, communities, and workplaces. Working closely with local groups, agencies, schools and employers, we provide support to projects aimed at mobilizing the community to prevent and address these issues. Training, consultations and resources are available to professionals working with people who experience alcohol, tobacco, other drugs and gambling problems. Protection of Children Abusing Drugs (PChAD): This act is to help children under 18 years of age whose use of alcohol or drugs is likely to cause significant psychological or physical harm to themselves or physical harm to others. The PChAD program allows you, as a legal guardian, to ask the Court for a protection order. This order will mean your child can be taken to a protective safe house, for up to 10 days for detoxification, even if they do not want to go. For more information visit: PChAD Info for Parents.
