Provides opportunities for community members to learn about enhancing food security by growing a garden, and to promote active and healthy lifestyles.
Service offers:
- garden programs that teach families how to grow their own food
- learning experiences for school and community groups that can be self-guided or led by food bank staff
- 1 day workshops, tours, and other group experiences
- Learn and Grow Activity Totes that feature curriculum-connected lesson plans, materials, and tools for educators and volunteers to lead interactive educational activities in the garden, and that can also be signed out and used off site
Learn and Grow Activity Totes topics include:
- food chains and food webs
- healthy eating and healthy living
- plants in our daily lives
- pollution and recycled gardening
- soil, water, compost and insects
