Offers supports to youth who want to end their involvement in or are considered at risk for becoming involved in prostitution.
Service provides:
- support to youth who want to end their involvement in prostitution through the Protection of Sexually Exploited Children Act
- assistance to youth who are considered at risk to become involved in prostitution
Intervention may include:
- education
- risk assessment
- appropriate service provision whether in the community or in a confined setting
Sexually exploited youth involved in prostitution can access a variety of voluntary community services including:
- medical assistance
- drug and alcohol counselling
- psychological services
- educational programming
- placement resources
- life skills support
Youth who are considered immediately at risk to engage in prostitution can be apprehended by police or a delegated Enhancement Act caseworker, taken to a protective safe house, and may be confined from up to 5 to 27 days. During that time, they may receive:
- emergency care
- treatment
- assessment
- development of a long term plan to assist in exiting prostitution
- connections to community support services and placement services if unable to return to the parental home
