Offers a free, drop-in after-school program for youth 10 years and older.
Service provides:
- programs that educate and support youth in a variety of ways such as strengthening cooking skills, helping with science homework during homework club, or encouraging healthy relationships both towards themselves and others by facilitating a safe and inclusive environment
Programs include:
- Filling Our Tipis
- Boys and Girls Group
- Mad Scientist
Filling Our Tipis includes:
- reducing mental health stigmas and increasing the access to supports in the community
- the opportunity for youth to learn skills they can use by themselves or with others in various situations where they may be struggling
- 13 of the tipi pole teachings to help youth find support in the community and themselves by increasing their self-esteem, self-confidence, and willingness to seek help
- helping youth identify healthy supports in the community, in their lives, and connecting to Indigenous culture, Elders, and knowledge keepers
- reducing stigma - youth are presented with facts about mental health / wellness in an open space where all questions are welcomed; knowledge is provided about mental wellness and how to become a supporter to the community
Boys and Girls Groups include:
- Hear Me Roar (Girls Group) - a safe space for female-identifying youth to increase mental and emotional wellness
- Man Up (Boys Group) - a safe space for male-identifying youth to increase mental and emotional wellness
Mad Scientist includes:
- participating in fun experiments that teach youth about various parts of science
