Provides a variety of services, information, and resources regarding: guardianship services, trusteeship services, capacity assessment information and court applications, complaints about guardians, trustees, and agents, and advance planning.
Service offers:
- decision-making mechanisms for individuals who are unable to make personal and / or financial decisions for themselves
- assistance to Albertans to plan for a time when they may no longer have the capacity to make decisions due to an illness or injury
The decision-making mechanisms are provided through the:
- Adult Guardianship and Trusteeship Act
- Public Trustee Act
- Personal Directives Act
- Mental Health Act
Also acts for and administers the property of represented adults, minor children, and deceased persons when the Office is the most appropriate resource to provide support and protection.
