Service targeted to:

• Alberta residents
• with a valid Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan card
• who require assistance because of a long-term disability, chronic illness, or terminal illness (long-term and chronic are defined as being 6 months or longer)

Clients may not be eligible if they are eligible to receive comparable benefits from another source, including:

• a private insurance plan
• Veterans Affairs (veterans who need help because of a medical condition from active duty)
• Workers' Compensation Board
• Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB) Directorate, First Nations and Inuit Branch, Health Canada

If a benefit is not available through NIHB, and if clients are eligible for Alberta Aids to Daily Living (AADL), then AADL benefits can be accessed.

Medical equipment and supplies must be purchased from approved vendors after client is assessed and authorized to receive Alberta Aids to Daily Living benefits to be eligible for reimbursement.
