Community Mentoring Program
Provided by:
Big Brothers Big Sisters Association of Grande Prairie and Area
Offers a mentorship program for children and youth.
Service provides:
children and youth with a role model to talk to and share the experience of growing up with
Includes:
the development of a relationship between mentor and mentee through regular outings
a relationship built on trust and common interests
support from an experienced caseworker
a life-changing experience for both the mentor and the mentee
Programs include:
Pride, Respect, Identity, Safety, Mentoring (PRISM) Program - to support gender and sexually diverse (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, Two Spirit (LGBTQ2S+)) children and youth who are facing social isolation, marginalization, and other barriers

HOURS OF OPERATION
ELIGIBILITY
Service targeted to:
mentees - children 6 to 17 years
mentors - those who can provide a Police Information Check with a Vulnerable Sector Check as well as an Intervention Record Check and are willing to complete the necessary training and spend 4 to 8 hours per month with their mentee
