Evaluates, diagnoses, and makes recommendations for the management of patients who have been exposed to potentially toxic substances including those of a chemical, pharmaceutical, or natural origin.
This clinic is a monthly clinic designed to provide evaluation, diagnosis, and recommendations for management of adult patients in Alberta with any of the following:
- exposures to potentially toxic substances such as metals (e.g. lead, mercury), pesticides, gases, particulate matter, and other hazardous materials
- adverse events resulting from exposures to pharmaceuticals, drugs of abuse, occupational and environmental toxins, and natural toxins (e.g. rattlesnake venom)
- those requiring interpretation of toxicological tests already performed (e.g. trace element screens) or opinions regarding therapy (e.g. chelation)
This clinic does not provide services:
- to patients who are acutely ill
- related to management of substance abuse / dependence / addiction,
- for multiple chemical / environmental sensitivities or mold exposures
- for evaluation of drug allergy
