A comprehensive palliative care service, including a community-based hospice, for children with life limiting illnesses and their families. Grief and bereavement support for parents and siblings is also provided.
This service provides support to children with life limiting illnesses and their families, including:
- ASSIST (Aid for Symptoms and Serious Illness Support Team) an interdisciplinary team offering support around new diagnoses of life threatening conditions, difficult decision-making and collaboration in comprehensive care planning
- consultative support for care of the dying child in hospital, hospice or community
- Rotary Flames House, a palliative care facility which offers respite, symptom management and end of life care in a home-like setting
- outpatient programming for children and their siblings
- grief support for bereaved parents of children 17 years and younger
