Professional Immigrant Cultural Competency and Mentoring

Provides assistance to local employers in implementing appropriate strategies designed to enable skilled immigrants to secure and retain employment matching with skills, experience and education.
Service offers:
1 on 1 occupation specific mentoring – mentors gain enhanced leadership and cultural competencies while mentee gains job search capabilities and networking skills
Smart Connections – workshop for regulated professions (law, accounting, engineering, teaching etc.) to provide hands-on training for internationally trained professionals in accreditation and understanding in how to connect skills, experiences and interests to career path’s core competencies
Mentoring Circles - small group occupation-specific mentoring approach connecting employers and internationally trained professionals enhancing communication / presentation skills and cultural competencies in the workplace
connecting internationally trained professionals with networking opportunities, career opportunities and professional development

HOURS OF OPERATION
ELIGIBILITY
Service targeted to individuals:
who are permanent residents
who have accessed immigrant settlement and career service providers
who have a minimum of 1 year experience in area of expertise
who have a maximum of 1 year Canadian work experience in their field or sector
who are unemployed or underemployed
that possess the English skills necessary to perform in the workplace (Canadian Language Benchmark Level 7 or higher)
