Lumbar Puncture Clinic is a clinic for the AHS Division of Neurology, Calgary Zone. Referrals are only accepted from AHS neurologists within the Calgary Zone Division of Neurology.
This clinic is provided as a means of determining a diagnosis (ruling in or out).This is a procedure clinic for a lumbar puncture. The patient will be educated, consent form signed. The physician will collect a specimen of cerebrospinal (CSF) fluid from the lower back area, with the assistance of clinic staff. The results are sent to the referring Neurologist. The patient will be assessed and cared for until discharge. Post procedure care and instructions will be provided.
