The Population Health Promotion Edmonton (PHP Edm) team works with community agencies and health service partners to address ongoing and emerging health concerns within the community.
Our community work focuses on:
- Home and Community-Based Injuries (Older Adult Falls, Fire Prevention, Child Home Safety, Outdoor and Seasonal Safety)
- Risky Behaviour (Youth Risky Behaviour, Risky Play for Children, Suicide Prevention, Domestic Violence Prevention and Healthy Relationships)
- Traffic Safety (Distracted Driving, Pedestrian Safety, Active Transportation, Child Safety Seats)
- Substance Use (E-Cigarette Use, Cannabis, Tobacco)
Services provided include:
- Education - Provides individuals, community groups, and organization staff with evidence-informed information in an applicable and usable format. Workshops for families, seniors, and professionals are offered.
- Community Collaboration and Capacity Building - Supports organizations in implementing projects to promote health equity in the community.
- Internal Collaboration and Capacity Building - Supports professional development, networking, and cross-departmental collaboration within AHS.
