
Child Amputee (CHAMP) Program
Offers comprehensive services to child amputees and their families, including financial assistance for artificial limbs, regional seminars, advocacy and peer support.
Service offers:
- funding for standard and recreational artificial limbs and devices, as well as ongoing adjustments and repairs
- financial assistance towards the cost of travel to and from prosthetic clinics
- connections for child amputees and their families with others who understand the experience of living with amputation
- regional seminars where older members of the CHAMP Program (Junior Counsellors) provide peer support and guidance to younger amputees and their families
- funding for assistive devices for children with multiple amputations to help with independence
- advocacy support to families who have experienced discrimination or red tape when accessing appropriate amputee care, important financial benefits and/or legal rights
