Service provides:

• promotion of mental health and health literacy

• newcomer mental health training

• group information sessions delivered in small groups on a variety of healthy living topics with similar ethnic and language groupings

• up to 3 individual 1-hour counselling sessions

• advocacy to break down the mental health stigma in the community through cultural education and awareness with a focus on marginalized, disadvantaged, and invisible newcomers so they can seek help from trauma

Counselling includes:

• 1, 2, or 3 sessions with a certified psychologist accompanied by a cultural mediator
• a professional assessment completed after the sessions
• after the assessment, a referral to the public mental health services provided by Alberta Health Services or to other private professionals for further ongoing treatment and support services
