To provide programs and services through partnerships and strategic alliances by building capacity within the community to improve the quality of life in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo.
Service provides:
- various programs and services through partnerships and strategic alliances
Culture and Social Development:
- facilitates the development and sustainability of community-based organizations by leveraging resources to address areas of greatest need
- conducts research to identify social issues and needs within the region in support of social policy planning and program development, including Public Art and Heritage
- offers the Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) program
- provides support to the Emergency Social Services Department
Community Strategies:
- works together with community members to improve the quality of life in the region
- including Beautification, Culture, Facilities, and Recreation
- publishes the Community Guide to Recreation, Culture and Social Services
Community Investment Program:
- provides financial assistance to a number of community based groups and non-profit organizations that are responsible for the delivery of various recreational, cultural, and social programs and services
- development and operation of community facilities
- organization of major community events
Crime Prevention Community Liaison
- a program that develops and supports initiatives that contribute to community safety, security, and resilience, including the implementation of Wood Buffalo’s Crime Prevention and Reduction Plan
