This cardiac outpatient clinic is dedicated to the education and management of patients who have complex care needs related to atrial fibrillation and/or atrial flutter.
Most patients with atrial fibrillation can be managed by their family physician or a general cardiologist. This cardiac clinic is focused on the management of:
- Patients with complex care decisions regarding medications used to control or treat atrial fibrillation and/or atrial flutter
- Patients who may need procedures to manage or treat their atrial fibrillation and/or atrial flutter (for example, an ablation procedure and/or pacemaker)
- Patients who have recurrent atrial fibrillation and/or atrial flutter at a younger age (typically, under 50 years old)
Patients are discharged from the clinic once their condition has been stabilized.
